The Film Wisdom progression

Look again, then keep looking.

  1. 01Examine Yourself
  2. 02Examine the Spirit
  3. 03Examine the Fruit
  4. 04Examine the Outcome

Why this film?

A question worth examining.

By what spirit?

It is important for us to understand that not everyone preaching, teaching, or spreading the gospel is of God.

We have to examine what we are hearing and ask: By what spirit? The fruit, and ultimately the outcome, should be reflected in the experience.

Before examining someone else’s fruit, Scripture calls us to examine ourselves.

Spiritual language, signs, and appearance are not substitutes for examination.

The film asks us to examine ourselves, examine the spirit, examine the fruit, and examine what that fruit produces over time.

Scripture in the finished film

Begin with what was actually used.

Primary Scripture · Fruit

Matthew 7:15–20 KJV

The film’s central false-prophet teaching moves attention beyond words and appearance toward the fruit being produced.

Introduction · Self-Examination

2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV

Examine yourselves…

The film begins by turning examination inward before asking viewers to examine anyone else’s fruit.

Discernment · By What Spirit

1 John 4:1 KJV

This is the Scripture used to ground examination of the spirit behind what is being received.

Think Deeper

Let the questions turn inward.

  1. 01

Am I accepting something because it sounds spiritual, or have I actually examined it?

  2. 02

What fruit is being produced in the person, teaching, ministry, movement, or situation?

  3. 03

Does the fruit agree with what is being professed?

  4. 04

What happens to people who receive and follow this teaching?

  5. 05

    What happens over time?

  6. 06

Am I willing to reconsider something I have believed if its fruit contradicts its profession?

  7. 07

What fruit is my own life producing?
